With a diverse range of folk, blues, and country Amber May brings some big energy performing her original songs written from the heart.
Originally local to Northwestern Ontario, this authentic singer/songwriter has pursued her musical journey since the young age of three years old. As the years passed, Amber matured with her music in Western Canada, entertaining folks at festivals and other small events. At only nine years old, she found herself playing at the Fort Frances Bass Classic for nearly 3000 people.
Later in her young adult life, Amber faced the reality many musicians endure, the battle of a career versus her passion of music. Turning wrenches and covered in grease, she started a career as a heavy duty mechanic, singing away in the shops. Opportunity came knocking when a scout found Amber singing at a bar, and approached her to open for Juno Award recipient, Celeigh Cardinal! It became clear to Amber that music was her calling, and her commitment to her passion was born, taking her out of her comfort zone and into the performing fire.
With a guitar on her back, she brought her talent back to Southwestern Ontario and found her niche in the local music scene. Along with a few talented friends, the Amber May band has played many renowned festivals and locations such as the Paisley Blues Festival, Blue Mountain Village, Cobble Beach, The Wismer House, The Queens, Come Together Festival, Heartwood Hall, Rrampt Social Space and several other venues in the Grey/Bruce region.
Amber’s boundless energy allows her to draw in crowds of all types, and she radiates passion for not only her music, but the network that has come with it. Amber’s music is founded by her personal experiences and the hurdles of life as it comes. She continues to explore her talent producing new original songs for her growing audience by discovering the various textures of sound and lyrics.
The opportunities are endless for this home grown musician as her career takes off, yet she remains humbled as she grows with her passion and shares her beautiful energy with her community.
