Amber’s song, "Drink On It" holds a special place in her heart for many reasons. Amber first wrote this song when she was about 16. It was a song that was extremely vulnerable for her to write. It was one that she never planned to play live nor record. That unexpectedly changed after a special visit.
Amber’s Uncle Greg was a talented and accomplished musician. He came for a visit from the East Coast. Amber and he never really connected musically when she was younger. Amber didn't really embrace what music meant to her. When he visited, she showed him her originals she’d written and how she’d crafted her music. Amber showed him "Drink On It". Little did she know that, as he sat across from her in the living room, he recorded it on his phone. He loved it. He hadn't heard any of Amber’s originals before.. this one really stuck with him. Greg went back out East and without Amber knowing, went to his studio and added piano, bass and guitar. He emailed her a file of the surprise mix he had made. Amber made the poor choice not to listen to it soon enough. Like Amber had said, it wasn't one she really cared for. Amber’s uncle passed away 2 weeks after his visit. She ending opening up the file and needless to say he inspired her. He inspired Amber to be vulnerable and feel proud of how she can take some of her hard times and turn them into something beautiful. He did that. Amber ended up getting his Humming Bird Gibson guitar and used it on this track. This song has a lot of layers outside of the words. Without him Amber may have never recorded this song.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
I see you across the room
I know you’re staring too
Don’t try to fight it no Don’t even deny it
Her arms are wrapped around you
I know you want me to so just walk on by
Tell her goodnight
And lets drink on it
Chorus:
Hey pour me a double
Hell make it a triple
Spin me around this room
And let's drink on it
Oh drink on it
Verse 2:
You’re lips taste just like whiskey
Smooth but strong that’s how you kiss me and it feels so right
Oh but you burn at times
And I know you’re feeling lonely
The weathers cold and it’s still storming so come inside
Might as well stay the night
And lets drink on it
Chorus:
Hey pour him a double
Hell make it a triple
Spin me around this room
And lets drink on it
Oh drink on it
Bridge:
I know why you’re staying and I’m hoping and praying that that aint why
When I just need you tonight
But if you’re gonna leave don’t bother telling me just walk on by
Lock the door before you leave tonight
And I'll drink on it
I’ll drink on it
mmm
Ooooo oohh soooo
Chorus :
I’ll drink on it
I’ll pour me a double
Hell I’ll make it a triple
Spin myself around this room
Oh and I’ll drink on it
Yes I’ll drink on it
It aint the first time
Sure it wont be the last time
That I’ll drink on It
Oooo ooooo. oooooooo
( Might cut this ) > So I’ll dirnk on it
